View CommentsAs previously reported, a smattering of local art houses across the Lower East Side are reinterpreting the neighborhood-specific Lush Life chapter by chapter. The gallery exhibitions pretty much run through mid to late August. And author Richard Price is capitalizing on all the recent press.

View CommentsAfter dark, the New Museum turns on a projector which blasts an epileptic assortment of Rorschach-inkblot-esque images onto the building facade of 243 Bowery. The looped video is part of a three-pronged exhibition at the museum by artist Amy Granat, dubbed Light 3 Ways.

View CommentsOn Saturday afternoon, a strange art installation monopolized ABC Playground on East Houston. Along the Norfolk Street perimeter of the park, numerous clotheslines were strung between the trees, with countless colorful fabrics and balloons dangling in the wind. A few neighborhood children reveled in the temporary exhibition, playing tag and hide-and-go-seek.

View CommentsWithin the last 48 hours, the Shepard Fairey mural at the corner of Bowery and East Houston was the lucky recipient of four large puncture wounds (plus, a tiny one for good luck). And these holes are epic.

View CommentsIn the last month or so, the glass window casing has quickly raced up the front of 257 Bowery, future home of the Sperone Westwater Gallery. The building now boasts more definition, and is no longer just a hulking slab of concrete.
