In the two weeks since our last fire scene update, cleanup of the collapsed 107 East Broadway is nearly complete. The lion’s share of the mangled metal and crumbled brickwork has been carted away. Exactly one week after the Hong Kong Supermarket fire, the dismantling of 107 East Broadway has officially begun. This block will never be the same.

UPDATE: 105, 103 and 99 East Broadway will be assessed for demolition next [Save the Lower East Side]

More heavy metal is now on scene, including this ginormous crane. A backhoe continues to clear out the former Hong Kong Supermarket from the Henry Street side. Store awning is still hanging. At least for the time being.
