There is still a scene in the immediate aftermath of the East Houston fire, which broke out at number 240 earlier tonight.  Many thanks to the Red Square tipster for emailing us the following rooftop pictures.

Fireblog is reporting on a three-alarm inferno at the corner of Avenue A and East Houston. Address is 240 East Houston. This photo, nabbed from Twitpic, is quite scary. What are you seeing out there? Send us your pics and reports!

It might seem a tad cliche, but where would the fire department be without its trusty Dalmatian?  Yesterday morning, two trucks responded to an alert outside the Broadway-Lafayette subway station near Broadway and Houston.  As the firefighters were doing their business, this canine was watching over the gear inside Tower Ladder 9.  Cozy!

Judging by this comical scene on Grand Street, not all firefighters prefer traveling in their cramped fire trucks.  This partially-uniformed first responder was spotted in the westbound lane on a bicycle, his gear loaded in the basket.  Traffic was at a standstill during rush hour, and as you can see, the van driver was equally [...]
