This story is just all sorts of tragic. Shortly after 10 pm last Thursday evening, a woman crossed Allen Street near Epstein’s just as “a garbage truck in the left lane bolted RIGHT when the light turned green.”

This is rather horrific. A longtime Boogie reader sends in a dispatch about a terrible accident last night outside Epstein’s Bar involving a pedestrian and garbage truck. The crash transpired shortly after 10 pm.

New Garbage Collection Schedule for Community Board 2

Department of Sanitation flyers are rather ironically littered across the neighborhood, informing residents of the new refuse collection schedule within the bounds of Community Board 2. Effective this week, garbage collection is Monday/Wednesday/Friday, while recycle pickup is on Wednesday. “These changes will enable the Department to make the most efficient use of our resources.”

Tight Squeeze on Orchard Street

Watching garbage trucks negotiate the narrowest of city streets is always quite remarkable.  Of course, much to the dismay of trapped motorists.  That’s when the horns start sounding.  This particular truck eventually made it through. Tight squeeze spotted on Orchard Street, just above Stanton.
