HBO Renews How to Make it in America

Deadline Hollywood reported last week that How to Make it in America was just renewed for a second season.  HBO ordered eight new episodes of the Mark Wahlberg-produced series, scheduled to return in summer 2011.  That means filming will likely resume in the neighborhood sometime in the near future, and with it, plenty of inconvenience.

It seems like just yesterday that How to Make it in America was filming almost every week in the neighborhood.  The frequency of Lower East Side shoots rivaled that of Law & Order!  Now, barely two months after production wrapped, the HBO series is ready to go.  The series premiere airs on February 14.

Central Casting is obsessed with casting hipsters.  Back in August, it was for the Drew Barrymore flick, Going the Distance. Now “Japanese hipsters” are needed for scenes in How to Make it in America, the production that just can’t get enough of the neighborhood.

The Other Guys Filming on Delancey Today

Well, folks, it seems like a complete day of filming today on the Lower East Side.  Law & Order: Criminal Intent is in production on Bowery, and further to the south on Delancey, filming will commence for the feature film, The Other Guys.  The latter will occupy the neighborhood until 2 am, so sleep easy.

The Other Guys Filming in the Lower East Side

Another big budget blockbuster will be filming in the Lower East Side for the remainder of the week. Next up – The Other Guys, directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman). The Columbia Pictures production will be parked on Walker Street between Centre and Lafayette today and tomorrow; Lower Essex Street will host filming all day tomorrow.
