Shortly before noon Wednesday morning, flames exploded from the sixteenth floor of 89 Columbia Street, one of the buildings comprising the Masaryk Towers. Officials have determined the cause.

The Masaryk Towers environs can’t catch a break of late. Shootouts (and miraculous gun-belt survival), suicides, and now a three-alarm fire on the sixteenth floor of 89 Columbia Street. Scanner handles across the Tweetscape are reporting on a suicide that transpired not too long ago near the corner of Rivington and Columbia Streets. The jumper did not survive the fall, and was pronounced DOA. A crime scene is reportedly established around the perimeter. More info as it develops…
