Today, Mr. Ringo Starr (nay, Richard Starkey) turns an extremely young 70.  He is currently amidst a world tour with his All Starr Band, and is playing Radio City tonight.  Happy birthday, dude!

You might not realize it, but you owe quite a debt of gratitude to Schott Brothers.  Next time you zip up one of your jackets, know that it was Schott who pioneered the concept.  The American clothing company first planted roots in the Lower East Side in 1913, and has quite a unique history.

Southbound Bowery Lowrider

Last weekend, a lowrider was headed southbound on the Bowery, blasting War’s “Low Rider” at full volume.  The noise was unavoidable, but the scene was quite hysterical, drawing stares from passing pedestrians and bikers alike.

An example of when street statements start taking cues from Twitter.  Numerous printouts across Greenwich Village and eastward implore pedestrians to re-tweet the message, “RT #HITHARD #OILSPILL.”

Lady Gaga at Remedy Diner on East Houston

Lady Gaga returned to the Lower East Side recently, and was seen dining at Remedy on East Houston.  Viewtheparty.com was there, and captured the pop star exiting the premises.
