The rash of internet outcry about the authenticity issues in the new Bay version had us reminiscing about the first live-action Turtles movie, released in 1990. A number of scenes were actually filmed on Lafayette Street.

Earlier this year, construction workers at the new Broadway-Lafayette superstation decapitated one of the downtown 6 Bleecker Street entrances. The result was months of sidewalk closure and pedestrian aggravation.

Upgrading city infrastructure usually comes at an exorbitant price – eviction, demolition, and population relocation. Thanks to the superstation capital works project currently underway along East Houston and Lafayette, one of the Brooklyn Bridge-bound Bleecker Street subway entrances recently disappeared. Leveled.
