It appears as though the “Bargain District” signs hanging in the Lower East Side are almost irrelevant. Indeed, this neighborhood is quickly losing its bargaining charm. The heart of it all, Orchard Street, is perhaps the most battered victim. Just stop by on Sunday to see how much the pedestrian mall has deteriorated. A big thank you to all the strangling hotels for that.
There are still deals in the face of all the naysaying. It just requires some more exploration.
