Boogie Buskers: Xylopholks Entertain at West 4th
The Xylopholks are a costumed troupe that plays pseudo-ragtime music in the city’s subway system. We’ve read about them quite a bit, but never had the distinct privilege of witnessing a live performance. Until yesterday. During the late afternoon rush, Cookie Monster and Pink Gorilla were jamming out like crazy on the downtown F platform at the West 4th station. Commuting straphangers seemed simultaneously perplexed and entertained by the zaniness, and were laughing and bopping in rhythm.
