Second Annual Apple Day on Orchard

The brisk wind and cold rain didn’t keep the second annual Apple Day away from Orchard Street yesterday. Canopies were set up between Broome and Grand with local eateries sharing the one-block stretch with apple farmers. Participants included Mead Orchards, Red Jacket Orchards, Cafe Katja, Mark Miller Gallery, Two Boots Pizza, and Roni Sue Chocolates. There was even a table by the USDA, dedicated to the highly problematic Asian Longhorn Beetle. Turnout was fairly light as expected, but not terrible. Folks mingled and bought the Autumnal fare while a soundtrack of mediocre garage rock echoed through the streets.
