Mr. Tambourine Man Filming on West 3rd Street
Throughout the day today, a new movie called Mr. Tambourine Man will fittingly be filming in Bob Dylan’s old Greenwich Village stomping grounds. Based on the placement of requisite “no parking” signs and traffic cones, crews will likely set up on West Third Street, just east of Sixth Avenue.

Mr. Tambourine Man is the film adaptation of an Oliver Sacks (author of Awakenings) case study called The Last Hippie, and reportedly stars Julia Ormond, Lou Taylor Pucci, and J.K. Simmons. It’s based on a true story about a man named Gabriel who lost the ability to form short-term memories after the onset of a brain tumor. Music, specifically that of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead, become the only means for him to communicate with others.
