Coming Soon: Backstage at 152 Orchard Street

Nigh on a week after the demise of the Doghouse Saloon at 152 Orchard Street, we now have the early word on the heir to the throne, as it were. Get ready for Backstage, a new bar/music venue which promises to bolster the endangered Lower East Side music scene.

Over the weekend, a number of folks were unloading splintered wood and rubble into twin dumpsters out front.  Peering into the open doorway, it was evident that some serious renovation is currently in the works.  One gentleman affiliated with the venture informed us that they are “knocking down some walls” and hope to have the space up and running after Labor Day. We’ll keep you posted.
