Judd Apatow HBO Series Filming on Broome Today

Exactly one month ago, HBO released the film scouts into the Bowery environs to find a “modern, sizable [studio] apartment” for a new Judd Apatow-produced pilot. It appears the hunt is over.

The heretofore unnamed comedy series, now simply called Girls, will be filming all day today on the easternmost section of Broome Street. Orange “no parking” signs are taped to nearly every lightpost between Bowery and Mulberry Street.

The subject matter of Girls focuses on the “assorted humiliations and rare triumphs” of twenty-something women transitioning to adulthood.  It’s penned by 24-year-old Lena Dunham, who recently turned heads with her comedic coming-of-age film Tiny Furniture.  In fact, it was this feature that reportedly attracted Judd Apatow to executive produce her show.
