It appears Matthew Oliver Maddy will have another go at opening a venture in the basement of 168 Elizabeth Street.  With a subject line reading, “M. Maddy Has Resurfaced,” a reader emailed us that he will appear before Community Board 2 tomorrow night.

You may recall that Maddy made waves in late June when he announced intentions to bring his No. 7 restaurant franchise to the cellar below the current laundromat. Proposed plans at the time included 10 tables (25 seats) and 1 small bar (6 stools), with no garden dining for at least the first year. Maximum legal capacity would be 42 persons. Then, as now, his idea was brought before the board for review.  However, CB2 axed the plan rather quickly, for, among other reasons, no permissible basement use per current certificate of occupancy.
