Golden Carriage Bakery at 162 East Broadway Closed

The bell tolls for Golden Carriage Bakery, which, at one point, boasted four stores in Chinatown.  Locations on Catherine, Chrystie, and Centre (all C’s!) are history. However, one Yelper reported two weeks ago that the latter outpost at 153 Centre is becoming part of the downtown White Swan Bakery chain.

And now the same fate has befallen the Lower East Side location.  Yesterday afternoon, a tipster sent along word that Golden Carriage Bakery closed its 162 East Broadway facility. Lettering on both the marquee and awning has been crossed out with spray paint.

Is this the proverbial end of the road for Golden Carriage, or just a brief tune-up?
