In due course, Stop 1 Deli at the corner of Rivington and Suffolk will have a bit of competition. Another small-time bodega is already in the works at 127 Rivington. Meet LES Mini Mart & Grocery.

In the weeks since the owner of Neighburrito rolled up the operation to focus on Tiny’s Giant Sandwich Shop, interior renovations onsite have been ongoing. Some days the gates are open, revealing the few grocery fixtures already installed – magazine rack, counters, and refrigerator units – and walls scraped clean of the black-and-white neighborhood photo wallpaper. Most of the time, however, the storefront is locked pretty tight.

While new awning and electric signage were installed yesterday, there is no word yet on exactly it will open.
