The Blue Man Group will celebrate its twentieth anniversary at the Astor Place Theatre next month. Hot damn, time flies!  We remember seeing the eye-bulging percussion troupe not long after its opening on Lafayette Street and being completely mesmerized by the primal production.  So bizarre, so cool.  Alas, we were not parked in the poncho section up front.

To commemorate the illustrious occasion, Playbill reports that the original creators/actors – Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink – will team up with Dave Matthews for the anniversary performance.  All proceeds from the show are earmarked for the Lower East Side-based New York City Blue School, which is currently building a new facility near the South Street Seaport.

The Bowery Hotel will host the after-party, natch.
