Within the last week or so, location scouts from Paramount Pictures canvassed the neighborhood from Clinton Street to the Bowery.  Numerous building entrances are now papered with letters asking for large ground floor apartments to shoot “several scenes” for an upcoming feature comedy, dubbed Finchley Dreams.

Below is the transcribed letter:

Paramount Pictures is currently in pre-production on a new comedy entitled “Finchley Dreams.”  We are scouting for large apartments in your neighborhood to be used in several scenes.  Initially, we are only asking permission to photograph your property to show our director for consideration.  If the location is selected, there will be compensation as well as a contract and insurance for your residence.

The apartment should:

  • Be located on the first or second floor.
  • Open into a large living room.
  • Maintain its pre-war aesthetic.

Please note that we work in conjunction with the New York City Mayor’s Office for Film, Theater, and Broadcasting and the New York City Police Department.  We obtain any necessary permits for filming and we are a fully insured company.  I truly appreciate your time and consideration and hope to talk to you soon.  I can be reached anytime on my cell 914-844-8109.
