Munchies abruptly shuttered back in October after being served eviction papers.  The ensuing seven months of vacancy and dust gathering officially ended this week inside 179 Essex Street.  Surprise.  A new banner draped across the old marquis announces the replacement occupant.  It’s another fast food eatery entitled The Masala Wala, which specializes in “gourmet South Asian Streetside Delicacies.”  Meanwhile, each of the seven glass window panes carries the promising message of “coming soon.”
