il Laboratorio del Gelato Opening Delayed Until the Weekend

The beloved gelato joint on the Lower East Side just delayed the opening of its satellite store at the old 95 Orchard Street headquarters.  Signs occupying the window real estate indicated at one point that il Laboaratorio del Gelato would re-launch here last weekend.  This was not to be.  Instead, interior preparations continued, and the print-out announcements updated.  Twice.

Earlier this week, the opening date was changed to yesterday.  However, when we walked past to purchase a frozen treat, the narrow store was still behind bars.  Nevertheless, the latest projection has the ice creamery opening Saturday, July 16.  And with this Orchard Street homecoming, the company invested in a brand new facade flag to replace the tattered fabric predecessor.
