Bowery Lane Bicycles Part of Fashion Week Tour de Fashion

Come early September, Bowery Lane Bicycles will be re-purposed as a new item in the fashionista toolkit.  The Lower East Side-based bike company is joining forces with the nascent Tour de Fashion program to offer a free sharing program during this year’s Fashion Week (September 8-15).  The goal is for “fitness loving fashionistas” to have easy access between shows in and around the Garment District.  Hmm, somehow we get the feeling cabs will probably remain the preferred method…

Anyway, Tour de Fashion intends to place thirty custom-built bicycles around the city streets.  Each transport is stylishly sheathed by industry notables including Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Isaac Mizrahi, Nicole Miller, Patricia Underwood, Elie Tahari, Nanette Lepore, Rebecca Minkoff, Carlos Falchi, Doo.Ri Chung, Rebecca Taylor and Prabal Gurung.  We’ll keep our eyes peeled for the Pee Wee bike instead.
