Facade Facelift for El Nuevo Amanecer on Stanton

Neighborhood Mexican standby El Nuevo Amanecer completely re-tooled its image at 117 Stanton Street. In the last few weeks, the lovingly grungy corner establishment reinvigorated its tropical themed exterior with a full-on facelift; onsite painting services courtesy of Chico. Security gates at right angles now boast a colorful beach scene complete with dunes and palms. The loud brushstrokes here definitely distinguish this storefront from those in the immediate vicinity, so the intentions of more exposure were definitely realized here.

But the vision is not completely finished. Chico and his ladder-bound right-hand man were out yesterday evening working on the blank Essex Street marquee.

The old marquee was stripped away last Saturday, and instead replaced with a series of flood lights, a sunset color scheme, and some faux-brickwork. Interior was also repainted to match same.
