“Girls” Filming Across the Lower East Side Today
The Lower East Side filming schedule this summer hasn’t really included much from the forthcoming HBO show, Girls. Their last stint here was back in May. In the interim, it’s mostly been a whole lotta How to Make it in America, Gossip Girl, and Men in Black 3. Today the new series, executive produced by Judd Apatow, will occupy dual shoot locations in the neighborhood.

Crews will take up positions along Elizabeth Street north of Kenmare, and also alongside Sara D. Roosevelt Park on the Chrystie Street front.

As previously mentioned, the story of Girls follows the “assorted humiliations and rare triumphs” of twenty-something women transitioning to adulthood. Or as one PA recently quipped, a sort of “Sex and the City for younger girls.” Here’s hoping that’s not the case, especially with Apatow at the helm.
