Jeffrey Axelrod Ghost Bike at Chrystie and Delancey, Redux
The stoic Ghost Bike tribute at the northwest corner of Delancey and Chrystie Street remains a somber reminder of the tragic accident that transpired here back in August. Fifty-two-year-old Brooklyn resident Jeffrey Axelrod lost control of his ride and tumbled to his untimely death when the chain mechanism malfunctioned.

Until this past weekend, though, the two-month-old memorial existed sans identity. Just a simple sign reading “cyclist killed here.” Now the Ghost Bike has taken on a more human element with the addition of a photograph of the fallen. The hat is gone, though. Not surprisingly.
