M.A. Grocery at 127 Ludlow Receives SLA Suspension

Until now, it seemed as though much of the Seventh Precinct crackdown on drinking and nightlife, predominantly in the Hell Square environs, was focused squarely on the bar scene. But other establishments are affected, like the trusty corner neighborhood bodegas.

The latest victim in the ongoing Lower East Side squeeze, as it were, is M.A. Grocery at 127 Ludlow Street. It would appear that cops sent underage narcs into the convenience store within the last year to purchase some alcoholic beverages. Indeed, according to legal documents recently taped to the shuttered security gates, four counts of selling to minors resulted in a 30-day license suspension. M.A. Grocery cannot sell alcoholic beverages until January 13, 2012.  Not that it matters, as the bodega is now “temporarily closed.”
