The Great Frog and Its Motorcycle Sales on Orchard

Last month, the so-called “model” Orchard Street block received another decisive punch of tough-guy rockstar personality. Between punk metal peddlers The Cast and newcomer in The Great Frog, there seems to be a greater sense of virility here.

Open since early November, London-based jeweler Great Frog is off to a modest start at 72 Orchard Street. The store awning was affixed a few weeks ago alongside the eye-grabbing window displays. Seriously, a motorcycle?

That vintage-looking bike is the custom mechanic handiwork of East Villager Dave Browning, who operates a garage across the river in Williamsburg called E3MC. Not only is it a cool window showpiece, it’s also for sale. And the one you see on the pedestal is the second to grace the store since launch.  The first was actually purchased mere days after being placed in public view. Only on the Lower East Side can you sell an impulse buy of such magnitude from a glass case. And definitely surprising for an area notorious for lookers not buyers.

We are also told that in the new year, Browning plans to formally start selling bikes from the window.

In other Great Frog news, the three store locations are now selling an official Motorhead ring collaboration. Lemmy himself apparently approved both pieces.
