The Dragon Lanterns of Hester Playground

The lanterns have arrived in Sara D. Roosevelt Park on this, the Chinese lunar year of the dragon. Late last week, a trio of dragon ornaments was installed on the western fringe of the Hester Playground in anticipation of today’s festivities. Get ready for some pyro!

The three colorful dragon pieces, now wearing snow blankets, were reportedly assembled by 150 middle school students from MS 151 and the Chinatown YMCA under the tutelage of the Hester Street Collaborative.
