Coming Soon: Yunnan Kitchen at 79 Clinton Street

Foodie fare is finally conquering the inhabitable stretch of Clinton Street north of Delancey, exposing a sole holdout of old Lower East Side to even swifter change. The loss of Lucky discount at 79 Clinton a couple years ago only expedited matters, paving the way for a new Chinese restaurant called Yunnan Kitchen.

We learn from a blurb in New York Magazine that Franny’s (pizza) veteran Travis Post is behind the culinary concept. While official launch is still on the horizon (likely next month), Yunnan is already hitting Craigslist with job postings for cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. More about the venture from the listing re-published below:

Our new regional Chinese restaurant, Yunnan Kitchen, is looking for hardworking and savvy cooks to be a part of our opening team and help bring Chinese food to the next level in New York.

Our concept focuses on the fresh flavors of Southern China’s verdant province of Yunnan. We will feature a seasonal menu utilizing local and sustainable products. Alongside of our food, we will feature unique, carefully selected Beer, Wine and Tea offerings.

We are bringing our collective experience in fine dining kitchens, from New York to L.A., to the burgeoning neighborhood of the LES. This is an exciting opportunity for those who want to take an active role in creating a new perspective on Chinese cuisine.

Check out the listing if interested in working there.
