The wire was abuzz last week with news that Patagonia was moving onto the beloved Bowery. Come fall, their Lower East Side HQ will open at 313 Bowery, the former home of the CBGB Gallery space. With a slight twist.

More info was released into the wild this week. This particular Patagonia outpost will carry the torch for the surfing side of the outdoors business. Indeed, 313 Bowery is the first East Coast location for Patagonia Surf, and will reportedly resemble the Fletcher Chouinard Designs (FCD) Surfboards shop at the company’s Ventura, California headquarters. Patrons can pick up all sorts of surf gear tailored specifically to the beach climate at nearby shores.

And for the obligatory comment about preserving the history and heritage (i.e. authentrification). Yup, still banking on the CBGB name to sell unrelated product:

“CBGB Annex is not only a building with an incredible history within the city, but also for music lovers around the world,” continues Cohen. “We are delighted that we will be able to both preserve the history and heritage of both of these building as well as continue to enable the community to participate in events held in the spaces.”

Hang Ten.
