Scenes from Sandy: Graveyard of Greenery Along East Houston [PHOTOS]

East River Park and its sister down on Corlears Hook took quite the beating from Hurricane Sandy. The thicket of trees in both coastal spots suffered considerable casualties. A graveyard of greenery, if you will. Trees are toppled with the requisite “caution” tape marking the perimeter, but that’s not stopping all the photographers from roaming and snapping.
Yesterday afternoon, Corlears Hook park was active, with a cherry picker employed to sheer the splintered limbs from those still standing. A chipper was also parked on Cherry Street to grind up the fallen trees.
