Truck Vs. Tree on Rivington Street

One of the six trees lining Rivington Street between Bowery and Chrystie fell to its death yesterday morning. You see, Department of Environmental Protection had been busy with a sewer situation, which essentially blocked half the westbound roadway. In trying to pass the obstruction on the right, the impatient truck driver snagged the mid-height branches and completely uprooted the tree.
Roots snapped, and it came crashing down onto the vehicle; the DEP workers quickly scattered. Part of the sidewalk also came up with the tree. By nightfall, the site was cleaned up, as if nothing happened.
