Despite being a hard sell for commercial tenants in recent years, the stretch of Stanton Street between Chrystie and the Bowery might be in store for some upscaling. Change – Cata joined the Bowery Diner late last year, 250 Bowery is leaping to the finish line, and Anthropologie is right there in step. As is a swarm of fashionistas with open wallets.

So it’s perfect timing that a new dress shop – Ofori-NY – would open just across the street from 250. The custom boutique launched earlier this month at 9 Stanton Street, an address familiar with the concept of retail turnover. It was previously occupied by JillAnne’s sexy card business (and stripper pole), a short-lived barber called Reamir & Co., and OG tenant Yellow Fever.

All goods in the store are apparently made in factories around the Garment District.
