The Postal Service didn’t mail it in with the release of their first track in a decade.  The new single, “A Tattered Line of String” will be on the 10th anniversary reissue of Give Up, an album that has kept us on that string just as long.  It’s what you might expect – dance-pop beats and charming lyrics about kissing and such. It picks up where “Be Still My Heart” left off.

The single features ex-Rilo Kiley  frontwoman Jenny Lewis (favorites include “Portions for Foxes” and “A Better Son/Daughter”).  She’ll also be a part of their tour this spring, belting out her solo stuff.  Gibbard and Tamborello are playing the Baclays Center on June 14, as part of their limited run – if you are lucky, you’ve already scored tickets. Not sure how well their sound will translate to the arena, though…

The icing on the cake is the Lower East Side reference in the first line of the tune. Check it out.
