Bowery Ballroom Tops Rolling Stone List of Best Rock Clubs in America

The Bowery Ballroom is easily the best place to see a show in Manhattan, and the obvious crown jewel of the Bowery Presents empire. Rolling Stone agrees with this assessment, and placed the fifteen-year-old venue atop its list of twenty greatest rock clubs in America. Joe’s Pub on Lafayette Street also made the top ten, falling in at number eight.

This particular listicle is part of the Rolling Stone “Venues that Rock” series, which will also address theaters, amphitheaters, dance clubs, and arenas in later publications.

As with their oft-regurgitated countdowns, fans in all cities are up in arms about venues ignored. What would you say is the best club to catch a live show, either in NYC or otherwise?
