‘Delancey Market’ Brings Produce to 176 Delancey

Teigman Press was part of a dying breed on the Lower East Side. A budget mom-and-pop print shop. Their end was spelled with indelible ink last year just as Bushwick bar operators were vying for 176 Delancey. Jessica Lee Wertz and Ted Mann of Lone Wolf fame had eyed the space for a restaurant-slash-cafe. Those plans never materialized, and a complete 180 transpired here.
Now something more utilitarian just popped up; something that defied the odds. Delancey Market opened at 176 Delancey sometime last week, offering fresh fruit and vegetables. Not bad.
Its presence in the shadow of the bridge fills a void, as there aren’t many produce stands in the immediate vicinity. And it’s a brisk walk to the Essex Market from here.
