Chico Paints Pinalito City a Plywood Mural on East Houston

It must be summer if new Chico artwork is popping up. The onetime local street artist, who now resides in Florida, was back in town over the weekend, mostly painting for the 2013 Howl! Festival in Tompkins Square Park. But he made a pit-stop further south, just across the street from his dedicated East Houston mural space.
Chico was hired to skin the entire plywood shed currently in residence at Pinalito City. The Spanish Mexican joint has been closed since March for a complete interior overhaul. No timeline was given for reopening, but the addition of a new mural may signal many more months of gutting.
