Time Warner Cable is the bane of many here in the city, more often than not providing fodder for conversation. And a sure-fire reason to pull hair out of your head. That’s pointing out the obvious, though. Now the monopolistic service provider is offering its customer base a treat – free WiFi hotspots (outdoors). One thousand hot-spots are planned for Manhattan by mid-July, with up to ten thousand earmarked for the rest of the city by year end.

Here on the Lower East Side, WiFi coverage for customers is somewhat limited. Most availability is seemingly concentrated in Hell Square and further east on Clinton Street. However, coverage is no comparison to the density of the East Village. Click here for the full map.
