Police After Suspect Wanted for Cherry Street Sexual Assault

The 7th Precinct is after a suspect wanted for sexual assault on the Lower East Side. Early last Sunday morning (3:05 am), the perp allegedly followed a 23-year-old female into the elevators at 300 Cherry Street (at Clinton) where he attempted to assault her. The woman fought back and foiled the attack, scaring the dude into running off.

Police are describing the suspect as a thin, thirtysomething man with thin beard and standing 5-foot-6. He was also donning a plaid shirt, jeans, and knit cap.
