The southern terminus of Eldridge Street played host yesterday afternoon to the thirteenth annual Egg Rolls and Egg Creams Festival. As in previous years, the block between Canal and Division became a melting pot of cultures. A Chinese neighborhood once a center of Jewish life.
Live traditional music scored the soundtrack (klezmer and Chinese folk), with throngs of tourists gorging on the namesake food and beverage; kids participated in face painting, paper folding and yarmulke making. Inside the Eldridge Street Synagogue, museum staff provided a history sesh, while Chinese and Jewish artists demonstrated their craft.
