Empire of the Sun played a quasi-secret show at Gotham Hall last night, courtesy of MTV Iggy and Intel. The performance – part of “The Music Experiment” live series – was 90% spectacle, with costumes galore, dancers, acrobats, and a healthy dose of multimedia stimulant. Those lucky enough to attend were encouraged to dress up in a theme that is best described as “burlesque meets Mad Max.” It was one big dance party, though not quite at the rave level.

We personally enjoyed the fire stunts that preceded Empire of the Sun. Flaming hoola-hoops, breathing fire, swallowing fire, etc.
