Botanica Bar allegedly reopens on Thursday, but you might not recognize it. Remember how the sub-level watering hole closed last week? Well, it was much ado about interior renovations. And not just the toilet, it seems. Smells like an upscaling of the brand.

We passed by 47 East Houston yesterday afternoon and spied an unobstructed view of the space. Workers spent the last week replacing the checkerboard flooring with wood, and are currently constructing the bar. That dark dive decor is now a thing of the past, instead replaced with something seemingly befitting its upstairs relative, Estela.

For what it’s worth, no DOB permits are on file for this work.
