This will surely please Boardwalk Empire fans and old-timey music lovers alike. After the marked success (read: Grammy) of Boardwalk Empire Volume 1: Music From the HBO Original Series it was only a matter of time before a second helping was served to the masses.

Much like its predecessor, the songs are performed by today’s voices, but arranged in a way that keeps true to the styles of the 1920s. It’s stacked with many familiar artists – Elvis Costello,  Patti Smith (who seems to be everywhere lately), representatives from the Wainwright family, et cetera. There are a few surprises, too, like frontman for The National Matt Berninger’s charming ditty “I’ll See You In My Dreams.” And we can’t help but think that Liza Minnelli’s rendition of “You’ve Got To See Mama Ev’ry Night (Or You Can’t See Mama At All)” could also make for a wonderful serenade to Buster Bluth.

The album was released yesterday; track list below (and you can preview over at Billboard). Fans will also be happy to know that Season 4 returns to HBO Sunday, September 8, at 9pm.
