Sweet Chick Signs Lease at Former Max Fish Space on Ludlow

Sweet Chick will indeed open in the former Max Fish space, as we first reported. Despite opposition from building residents, the LES Dwellers, and a denial from Community Board 3, owners John Seymour and Sam Saleh are proceeding with plans for their second outpost (the Brooklyn location opened in February). The partners reportedly signed the lease for 178 Ludlow last week. The always-contentious matter of the liquor license will likely be addressed at the state level sometime in the near future.
One tenant at 178 Ludlow noted earlier this month that the “porous” walls inside the century-old tenement weren’t built to withstand the olfactory assault of a chicken-and-waffles concept.
