DOT Installs Updated Muni Meters on Orchard Street

The three Muni Meters in the one-block radius of Orchard and Broome were removed just before production began on The Knick. Computer printouts at the outset had warned of this. After all, the street furniture was not exactly period specific to turn-of-the-century Lower East Side.

Now that filming is complete, the city returned to re-install the equipment. However, it’s the more modern model which does not allow for the resurrection of the Muni Patrolmen (his hat is gone). Those officers were painted onto the parking meters two years ago, and were never completely scrubbed clean.
