Caught red-handed, Ken & Cook at 19 Kenmare Street ultimately nixed its illegal basement club, Lil Charlie’s. New Year’s Eve was its last party on premise. Eater had the scoop last week, and reported that the ground-level restaurant will simply expand its operation into the dungeon instead. This will allow for bigger dinner parties and such.

As for Lil Charlie’s, the club is apparently looking for a new home elsewhere in the neighborhood. Meaning, it’ll soon be someone else’s problem…

Lil Charlie’s had been flagged by the State Liquor Authority for operating illegally at 19 Kenmare. The Ken & Cook crew applied for a license alteration to legitimize the business (i.e. replace the basement service bar with a stand-up bar). However, both CB2 and the SLA vociferously denied the bid. This closure seemingly transpired before any further investigation/penalties from the state level.
