Vandals Tag Pulino’s on the Bowery, Future Home of McNally’s Cherche Midi

Officially closed for nigh on a month, Keith McNally’s Pulino’s pizzeria is falling prey to the vultures. The sandblasted brick exterior on the East Houston front was recently tagged with big bubble letters by a couple of graffiti writers.
Meanwhile, those bright red neons, auctioned in December for $1,000, are now permanently unplugged. And renovations are already underway within.
As previously disclosed, Keith McNally closed Pulino’s so that he can chage up the concept to something that will actually make some dough (pun intended). Pizza wasn’t cutting it, so a new French restaurant called Cherche Midi will debut in mid-March. Chefs at the helm are Shane McBride (currently executive chef of Balthazar) and Daniel Parilla (currently head sous chef of Minetta Tavern).
