The weakest Link

The Allen Street hot dog wars ended last month in a victory for the year-old Los Peros Locos. Indeed, its more ambitious cross-street nemesis Links just failed out of business. Apparently service at the sparsely-populated franks joint officially ended last month. The storefront is dark with little to no activity happening inside. You might say that it was the weakest link (yeah, yeah).

But don’t fret; something just as kitschy is on the way.

A source tells us that a new restaurant dedicated to “gourmet” grilled cheese is making a go of it at 188 Allen Street. For context, Little Muenster is barely two blocks eastward.

So, now let the grilled cheese wars begin.

And any excuse to play “$2 Hot Dog $1 Water.”
