City in Chains by Pennarello

British designer James Campbell Taylor just created an interesting, albeit unsurprising visual of commercial New York. City In Chains is the latest imagery to come out of his self-established graphic design firm, Pennarello. It enslaves various neighborhoods of New York in corporate crests, for purposes of depicting over-saturation – at least, that’s what we gather. A clever campaign, save for the fact that the Lower East Side isn’t overrun with Gaps.

Pennarello has some other niche graphics that are worth checking out, too, including a love letter from Manhattan to Brooklyn, and a lyrical display of the timeless “New York, New York,” as translated by the MTA.

‘Octfest’ Returns in a Couple Weeks with Plenty of Beer and Music

It’s a tough pill to swallow when the festival season wraps up, and with it, the end of summer. But maybe it doesn’t have to end so soon? What was initially a craft beer gathering with a few musical guests last year in Brooklyn has now morphed into a two-day music-meets-beer festival on Govorners Island, […]
