So it looks like the former Steve Madden Warehouse at 100 Rivington already has a replacement tenant. And it’s reportedly of the same ilk. Just a few short days after its six-year run concluded in Hell Square, a source informs us that another high-end footwear company is opening here. Zero sum.

Yup. Word on the street is that Tani Shoes will open at 100 Rivington next week, allaying possible fears of more nightlife on this beleaguered block. The brand, with two Upper West Side locales, specializes in “shoes for ladies and gents.” That means styles by companies like Chie Mihara, Ash, and Bensimon.

According to a shoewear listicle published by CBS in 2012, “both stores bustle constantly with an unending stream of customers looking for great sales and unending style.”
